Hormone Imbalance Diseases
Over-stimulation from estrogen is just one of the problems we find in the area of estrogen dominance. In many women's bodies, the foods we eat and drink have a major impact on how well the body breaks down and eliminates estrogen. Let's review a few of the common findings of over-stimulation from estrogen. If it occurs in the breasts, there are large, lumpy breasts and/or breast tenderness in menstruating women and possibly breast cancer. If it occurs in the uterus, we see endometriosis, hyperplasia, heavy bleeding, abnormal Pap test and these can lead to cervical or uterine cancer. If the estrogen over-stimulation occurs in the liver, we see weight gain, constipation, migraine headaches, frozen shoulders and fluid retention, among many other symptoms.
Conditions known to be affected or caused by estrogen dominance:
- food sensitivity
- hirsuitism
- menopause
- menstrual headaches
- migraine
- PMS (emotional)
- PMS (digestive, bloating, back pain)
- ovarian cyst
- weight gain
- yeast infection
- abnormal PAP
- allergies/ hypersensitivity
- bladder infections
- cholesterol elevation
- chronic fatigue or pain
- constipation
- cravings
- digestive trouble
- endometriosis
- fibrocystic breast
- fluid retention
- prescribed hormones (estrogen, bcp, lupron, etc) may cause side effects or reactions when estrogen is poorly metabolized
