Hormone Imbalance Causes
There is a wide range of causes for estrogen dominance. Below are listed some of the most common causes. It is important to realize that some of these causes are inherited but the majority of them can be improved, at least in part, by changes in our lifestyles. Most people who have developed a disease related to estrogen dominance need proper naturopathic treatment in addition to lifestyle improvements because the body loses its resilience when it is unbalanced for a long period of time.
Dietary:
- coffee
- chocolate
- fried foods
- poor quality fats
- lack of good fiber sources
- sugar
- alcohol/wine
- food grown with pesticides, hormones or antibiotics
Medical care:
- hormone treatments
- antibiotic treatments
- yeast infections
- medicines that affect liver function
- pain relievers (OTC and prescription)
- antacids
Heredity (i.e. having a family history of any of the following):
- cardiovascular disease (heart, stroke, etc.)
- cancer
- any of the female conditions listed in the "diseases" section
Physical Activity:
- lack of exercise (aerobic)
- lack of oxygen
- constipation
Stress:
- lack of sleep
- extreme emotions/feelings
- unresolved conflicts
