Treatment at Greenspan Good Health Center

This is a detailed outline of what Dr. Greenspan considers in providing the health assessment and results you want. It is intended to serve as a "menu" from which you and the doctor can review options for your care. Please refer to other detailed descriptions of tests, treatments and procedures as needed.

I. Education:

a) Consultation, Audio Tapes, Books, literature

II. Evaluation:

a) Consultation - The initial consultation is intended to discuss your health concerns and begin evaluation.

b) Tests - An accurate diagnosis requires testing which can be repeated as necessary to evaluate progress. Individual needs may vary, and at times, specialized tests will be run.

c) Physical Exam - a thorough exam will be conducted as needed to screen for indications of the major imbalances being considered.

III. Discussion and Planning: When we have completed health history discussions and your test results have returned, we plan your course of treatment.

IV. Treatment: Because every individual has different circumstances, we offer you a wide range of approaches for getting well. Below are some of the major categories we consider.

a) Acute Care/Relief - Because many people come with acute symptoms ranging from pain and inflammation to infections to fatigue, there is often a need for treatment of your immediate discomfort.

b) Cleansing/Detoxification - Cleansing is most often a crucial and highly effective method for initiating treatment. It must be done after careful assessment to determine how detoxification will help you personally

c) Dietetics/ Nutrition - This crucial part of maintaining health must be learned, practiced and demonstrated. Again, assessment of your habits and knowledge is the important first step.

d) Individualized Treatment - Your treatment is based on an emerging area in medicine called "functional medicine". It is a field that studies how the body develops different problems when it loses its ability to function correctly. Diagnosis and treatment are based on restoring normal function that allows the body to resolve disease on its own.

An example is a skin condition called eczema. In conventional medicine it is treated with topical steroid cremes. In functional medicine, the cause is usually recognized as a sensitivity to certain food(s), yeast infections or other causes of toxicity in the body. Thus, the treatment of eczema from a functional medicine approach addresses the underlying causes through testing, proper nutrition and treatment. Often the skin clears up with no topical treatment because the condition has been resolved from the inside.

The most common "functional syndromes" include:

e) Physical Activity

f) Mental / Emotional
